Are Alcoholics and Addicts often untreated sex addicts?

March 8, 2015 By Charlene Lewis

Do you see sex addiction threaten patients with long-term sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous? Does it threaten their abstinence?

Charlene: It can. It absolutely can because again it goes back to the shame. The shame, the guilt, the isolation and if an alcoholic or an addict is feeling that long enough and they can’t find relief in their fellowship or with their sponsor and they’re scared of going to a therapist, absolutely. I mean alcohol and drugs are always going to be there so that’s why I think it’s really important for people struggling with this to seek help.
